12 Months!!

I'm going to call this a 12 month update rather than 1 year, because it's just too hard for me to say that my baby girl is 1. Each of the months went by so fast, but this last month of babyhood seemed especially quick.

She's such a happy girl, crawling ALL OVER THE PLACE now. She's also walking along furniture, and this morning she pulled up on me, and let go for a few seconds before falling down. She loves taking all of the books off her shelf in the living room and throw them on the floor. And taking all of the plastic containers out of the drawers in the kitchen.

Baby A is also a chatty one this month. We hear lots of "mama" and "dada", but even more gogidygogidy (Daddy thinks she sounds like a leprechaun). Last week she was really into "uh-oh" but we haven't heard it much this week.

She's not feeling the best today (it just doesn't seem right to be sick on your 1st birthday), so I let her have her very favorite toy, the remote control, to get the pictures started. Other favorites include our cell phones, my ipod, and if she could get her hands on it, she'd be happy to take the computer.

We've slowly been making the switch over to whole milk for the past few weeks, and slowing down nursing. It's a bittersweet mark for me. I'm going to be a little sad to miss that sweet time when she first wakes up in the morning.

Baby A is still in mostly 12 month clothes, but she's growing quickly. Her legs just keep getting longer and longer!

Amazingly (to me), it seems Baby A's eyes are going to stay blue. I never thought I would end up with a blue-eyed babe, but it seems that's what I have. And they are a beautiful blue, like her Daddy.

Habitot

We went on a family date night to the Minnesota Children's Museum last Saturday night. I used to volunteer there when I was in college, so I was really excited for Baby A to be mobile so we could take her. They have a special area just for the under 4 crowd, and Baby A just loved it, especially the noise makers, like the bells!

She was also pretty excited about the big blocks. She just can't let any blocks be stacked on top of each other. Even two high is too high for her.

The bridge was a little wobbly for Baby A, so she had to hug Daddy for balance. Such a sweet couple!

We started a family membership for the year, so I imagine we'll be back again soon. I'm going a little stir crazy after 123 days of snow cover, with a few feet still on the ground in our backyard. The museum will be a great escape on the wet spring and summer days!

Cruisin'

Baby A's not walking yet (and I'm good with that for awhile), but she is starting to enjoy pushing her little car around. And she's oh so adorable doing it!

Elephants Galore!

I've been busy (in a fun way) getting things ready for Baby A's birthday party coming up in just a little more than 2 weeks (crazy!). We've been saying that Baby A's favorite animal is the elephant, so we're having a elephant theme for her party.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon making special elephant crayons for the other little ones who come to her party. I got the idea from from this post on Prudent Baby. I looked at molds online, but when I found one for $1 at Joann Fabric, I decided to go with it. My mold had several different animal faces, but I only used the 2 elephant faces to stick with the theme.
I have a lot of old crayons from school, so I was able to make the crayons by recycling those. It took some time to unwrap the crayons, melt them, and then wait for the crayons to cool to start again, but I'm really happy with how they turned out!
