Stomp Your Feet!

Clap your hands! Everybody ready for the barnyard dance!

This is one of Baby A's favorite books. She's been diving at it any time she sees it.

And, almost overnight, she's gotten so good at sitting up. There's still some diving at things, so we keep the Boppy around her.

Half a Year

Baby A is now half a year old. Most of the time it feels like the 6 months have flown by far too quickly, but at the same time it feels like forever ago that I was pregnant.

Baby A is now out of pretty much all of her 6 month clothes, and moved right to 9 month and 6-12 month clothes. She still has some 6 month onsies that fit well, but the pants look like little capris.

Update: at today's appointment we got Baby A's measurements. 16 lbs, 10 oz and 27 inches long. Still a long and lean baby girl.

We're making some progress on a daily routine too. We don't worry to much about having a really set schedule, but I pretty much know what times during the day Baby A will eat, and a rough guess as to when she will sleep. She sleeps so well in her crib at night, but she still resists napping in there. h

Baby A still really likes to stand with help, and she's making progress on sitting. She sits up well with something to lean on, but makes occasional dives at the ground, especially if her pacifier happens to be there.

Daddy is wonderful for entertaining his little girl. Almost every time I return to interupt Daddy and daughter time, E has found a new trick (ushually some funny noise he can make) that delights Baby A. Two of her favorite things right now are when Daddy makes his popping sound and clapping. After you clap, Baby A stares at one hand, and then the other trying to figure out when they're going to make that noise again.

Crafty Thursday

Here's a little sneak peek of Baby A's first craft project! Not the greatest shot, but I was trying not to get paint all over the camera.

The Morning News

Saturday morning E and I were reading the paper after breakfast, and Baby A thought she should join in the fun.

Trying to keep up on sports news like Daddy and the Grandpas.

Bumbo

Baby A is in a serious drooling phase. It seems as if there's always drool dripping off her little chin. One of her new favorite tricks is to blow spit bubbles. She blows bubbles and laughs and laughs. Nothing makes me happier than those baby laughs.

I have a feeling this is a look I will get quite frequently during the teen years.

Mmmmm....

Last night we gave Baby A her first taste of rice cereal. I had been resisting, coming up with good excuses to delay this milestone. But Baby A has been a little grouchier than usual lately, and hasn't been sleeping as well (just in time for my 5:15am wake up calls to start), so I finally gave in and mixed up the rice cereal.

It was pretty funny to watch Baby A's reactions to the cereal. She was very confused by the spoon. A few times she seemed to figure it out and open her mouth for us. I'm sure she'll get better with more practice.

5 Months

This is a little late, but here's a little update about Baby A at 5 months!

On her 5 month birthday, Baby A had her first day of day care. It was a hard day for Mommy, but Baby A did well and made some new friends. The toddlers think Baby A is very fun. Little S read Baby A some books on her first day. And Mrs. J told me that the other little girls have named all of their "babies" Annabelle now... how cute!

Baby A has gotten so big this month. She's added some sweet little rolls to her legs. She's just starting to outgrow some of her 6 month clothes, especially the pants.

She's consistently rolling from her tummy to her back, and she lifts her head so high to get a good look around. Sometimes she does a little airplane move with her arms and legs up. She also really likes to stand with support. Her balance gets better every day.

This month has been quite the Mommy month. Baby A has been quite attached, which, of course, makes me feel really good, but it can be a bit frustrating when I want to pass her off to new people.

I'm Back!

The past two weeks have been CRAZY busy, but good. Thankfully, things have settled down considerably this week.

The first days I was back at school for workshop I had to go full days. I know without a doubt now that working part time was the right choice for me and my family. I know many (probably most) moms end up going back to work full time, but I feel so lucky that I am not. The first two days of school (with kids) have gone really well. I'm able to get done with work, pick up Baby A and be home by just a little after 11. It's wonderful!

Here's a quick shot of Baby A from our Labor Day trip back to Wisconsin to visit my family.
